The City Clerk is responsible for managing all of the city's records in accordance with Washington state regulations. This includes the creation, implementation and supervision of an effective records management program that includes: records retention, records destruction, and document imaging. Supervision of the city’s records storage facility is also a responsibility of the city clerk.
The City Clerk also provides legislative support to the City Council  by coordinating and distributing agenda materials, attending the council meetings and preparing the council meeting minutes. Other responsibilities include coordination of special, primary and general elections for the city, codification of the city ordinances, staff liaison to the city’s hearing examiner, enforcement of the city’s licensing regulations, receiving and processing public records requests  and special projects as assigned.
