Curbside Service
Waste Management provides garbage, recycling and food/yard waste collection. Containers range from 10-gallon micro-cans to 96-gallon carts. Garbage service includes unlimited curbside recycling - save money by downsizing your garbage and recycling more! Weekly yard/food waste recycling is also available by subscription for around $10 per month. Current residential garbage rates
To sign up, change service, or report a missed collection, visit the Waste Management website or call 800-592-9995. Once you've reported a missed collection, it will be collected on the next service day (except for Weather-Related Delays).
Pickup Schedule
Garbage and food/yard waste carts are picked up weekly, year round. Recycling is collected every-other-week: half the city one week and half the next - which reduces labor and equipment costs. Collection days are on your regular garbage day, but your service week will vary by neighborhood. Please contact Waste Management at 800-592-9995 to learn your specific schedule.
Weather-Related Service Delays
Waste Management’s Weather Board to see if bad weather or road conditions delay collection services for your whole neighborhood. If your garbage, recycling, or yard waste was not collected, please remove your containers from the curb that evening. Double set-outs of garbage and yard/food scraps will be collected on your regularly scheduled collection day the following week. (Curbside recycling make-up will be two weeks later.) Of course, there are no "extra" charges for up to double your regular container volume due to weather delays. Review tips for double set-outs following a weather delay on Waste Management’s Weather Board webpage. (Hint: keep a few sturdy plastic bags handy in case of snow and ice.)
Self-Haul Options for Trash (or Recyclables)
You can take garbage (and some recyclables) to
King County transfer stations (fees may apply).
