Probation Services and Resources Information

If the Federal Way Municipal Court has ordered you to be supervised, in some capacity, by the Probation and Services Department, please ensure you follow the directions given to you during your hearing. The Court Order typically requires that you contact probation within an allotted time (i.e. within 24 hours; within 3 days; orientation court date).

If you were given a Probation Orientation date, please be advised that this is considered a Court hearing.  Failure to attend is considered failure to report to the probation office and may result in a warrant being requested.  Orientation is held in Court room 3, on the date you were provided, and it starts promptly at 9:00 am.

After your Intake/Orientation with Probation; you will be given a specific date to report for your next probation appointment.  You may report any time on the day of your scheduled appointment during the following hours; 8:30 am- 11:30 am or 1:00 pm- 4:00 pm.

Probation's role is to monitor and assist in your compliance with the court's orders, which may include assessments, treatment, jail alternatives, community service work, abstinence from drugs/alcohol, and law-abiding behavior.  Probation may also be used as a resource to assist in finding employment opportunities, community resources, and sober support groups.

Court Ordered affirmative conditions are typically given deadlines 30- 90 days from the date you were in Court.  If Probation does not have documentation by the deadline given, a review hearing may be set.

If you are encountering difficulties in getting these conditions done, within the allotted timeframe set by the Court, please make sure Probation is aware.  In many cases we are able to help provide further resources or have a solution to assist in your compliance.

Online courses are not accepted unless it is specifically notated on your Court order.  Please be aware that many online websites will say they are "court approved".  They may even name our court directly.  This is not accurate.   In person, Zoom, or other Tele-health classes are approved.

Please notify Probation Services and Resources with any personal information changes (address, telephone, legal name changes, employment, and /or any contact with police) within 24 hours.

There may be restrictions on misdemeanant probationers who wish to move out of the state.  If you are thinking of leaving the State of Washington, please speak with probation as soon as possible.
