EMPLOYMENT STATUS:      Temporary, Part-Time

SALARY RANGE:                $11.00 - $12.00/hour

*NOTE: This is a temporary, part-time position working morning shifts, Monday through Friday, up to 17.5 hours/week with no benefits.

 

BASIC FUNCTION: 

Under the direction of the Federal Way Community Center’s Facility Services Coordinator, the Child Care Attendant will help plan, implement and lead daily activities for up to 10 children, ages 0-8, making sure that all children are safe, orderly and entertained. As a representative of the Parks Department, a uniform will be provided and must be worn during work hours.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • Enjoy working patiently with children.
  • Supervise and actively participate in with children and serve as a positive role model for children at all times.
  • Work closely with other staff in an enthusiastic, cooperative and supportive manner.
  • Prepare oral and written presentations and attend a variety of hearings, meetings, conferences and other gatherings. Represent the City in various committees, organizations, and groups.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Maintain safety of participating children at all times.
  • Render first aid in case of minor injury.
  • Clean program areas and store equipment and supplies at the end of each day.
  • Assist with the preparation and maintenance of required reports.
  • Attend required staff training and other meetings.
  • Maintain professional image and positive attitude at all times.
  • Perform other taks and duties as assigned by the Facility Services Coordinator.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Must be at least 16 years of age.
  • Current First Aid for Infant, Child and Adult CPR cards required.
  • Experience in planning and implementing and supervising recreational and/or educational activities for children preferred.
  • Responsible for own transportation to and from job site.
